NJ Special Education Transition Program
Our Transitions Program starts in 1st grade and continues throughout each student’s time with us, up until the age of 21. We start out with Career Ready Practices and gradually incorporate Community Based Instruction (CBI), job sampling, volunteer opportunities, and shared-time programs. These shared time programs include certification programs in technical schools. For our high school students, we also assist with college visits and applications, as well as preparing for SATs. We even have interested students take the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB), at our school, to help figure out which paths may be best for their success!
Students also receive assistance writing resumes, the job interview process, and presenting their own Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Our program is designed to give each student the support they need while teaching them to be independent. We believe our process gives everyone in our program the best chance to grow into the successful people they are capable of being.
